Reading your BaZi and Zi Wei charts
What Truenoon calculates, how to read its life-rhythm curve and Zi Wei map, and which limits matter before interpreting a chart.
What does Truenoon do?
Truenoon calculates a BaZi chart from birth details and presents it with plain-language explanations. When the required details are complete and usable, the free preview also includes a life-rhythm curve and a Zi Wei Dou Shu map of twelve palaces.
The public sample uses fictional birth details with the same calculation engines as personal charts. It is an example of the format, not a customer story or evidence that an interpretation is accurate.
How are BaZi and Zi Wei Dou Shu different?
BaZi represents the birth year, month, day and hour as four stem-branch pairs. The day stem, called the Day Master, is the reference for element relationships and ten-god labels. Truenoon calculates these calendar facts with lunar-typescript.
Zi Wei Dou Shu is a separate traditional system that places symbolic stars in twelve palaces. Truenoon calculates its palace positions, stars, brightness and birth-year transformations with iztro. A palace label names a traditional reading topic; it does not establish a fact about your life. The two systems keep their own year-boundary and cycle rules.
Which birth details are used, and why is the time corrected?
Enter the birth date, recorded local clock time, birth city and calculation sex. The traditional sex setting is used for cycle direction and Zi Wei calculation; a name is a display label, not a calculation input. Select the intended city from the search results so its coordinates and timezone can be resolved.
For a valid, resolved local time, Truenoon combines a longitude correction with an approximate equation of time and rounds the total to the nearest minute. The corrected date and time are used for the chart. Zi Wei reuses that corrected time without applying a second solar-time adjustment. City coordinates are representative, and a correction cannot make an uncertain birth record exact.
How is the Zi Wei map calculated?
The current adapter uses iztro@2.6.1 with the default algorithm and records the convention version truenoon-ziwei-v1. It calculates twelve palaces, major and supporting stars, life and body palaces, birth-year transformations and decadal age ranges from the corrected birth details.
Only stars calculated in a palace are shown there. If it has no major star, that absence is preserved rather than filling it with an opposite palace's star. Short star descriptions explain traditional imagery; they are not measured personality traits.
Which Zi Wei calendar conventions does Truenoon use?
The Zi Wei birth year changes at Lunar New Year, unlike BaZi's solar-term year boundary. In a leap lunar month, days 1–15 use that month's number and day 16 onward uses the next month's number. At 23:00–23:59 of corrected time, Truenoon advances the Gregorian date once and calculates the next day's early Zi hour.
The adapter accepts corrected dates from 1900-01-01 to 2100-12-31; the normalized engine date must also remain within that range. Zi Wei decadal ranges use nominal ages from its own calculation. They are not the same as BaZi's cycle-start date or completed birthdays.
What does the life-rhythm curve measure?
Each point represents one calculated BaZi Da Yun period, with its actual stem-branch pair and calendar-year range. The start date and forward or reverse sequence come from the chart calculation. The childhood interval before the first Da Yun is excluded. The curve is not an annual forecast.
Cycle timing and pillars come from the Bazi calculation. Truenoon maps the stem and branch’s primary-element relationships to a relative inward-to-outward tendency using the same visual weights at every stage. This is not a fortune, wealth or success probability. Model: truenoon-rhythm-v1. Formula: score = 50 + 50 × (0.4 × stemProjection + 0.6 × branchProjection); the displayed result is rounded to an integer. Relationship projections are Resource -1, Peer 0, Output 1, Wealth 0.6 and Authority 0.2. The branch uses its primary element, not a sum of all hidden stems.
Ages follow the engine’s nominal convention: calendar year minus birth year plus one, not completed birthdays. The exact cycle-start date is listed separately.
What happens if I do not know my birth time?
Choose the unknown-time option. The BaZi calculation uses noon as an explicit assumption and omits the hour pillar. The remaining pillars also depend on that assumption; a date close to a day or solar-term boundary may need further checking.
Truenoon does not show a life-rhythm curve or Zi Wei map from an assumed time. Adding a birth time allows those features to be calculated, provided the other required details are usable. Missing calculation sex also prevents both visual readings.
What if daylight saving or the birth place is uncertain?
For the underlying BaZi chart, a repeated daylight-saving clock time is resolved to its earlier occurrence. For a clock time skipped by a daylight-saving change, the entered time is retained without solar-time correction. These are disclosed calculation assumptions, not confirmation of the birth instant.
Both the life-rhythm curve and Zi Wei map are withheld for skipped or repeated clock times. Zi Wei also requires a resolved birth place, timezone and successful true-solar-time correction. An unavailable graphic states the reason and asks for the missing or uncertain information.
Does a reproducible calculation prove a reading is true?
No. A reproducible chart establishes what a stated calendar algorithm returns for stated inputs. It does not validate claims about personality, relationships or future events. Traditional symbolism and Truenoon's visual projection are separate from the calendar arithmetic.
Report prose uses structured content and may be AI-assisted. Automated checks cover selected chart facts and content rules, not the truth of every interpretation. Treat a reading as a reflection prompt and compare it with concrete experience rather than a guaranteed prediction.
Which content is public, and which stays private?
Educational guides, glossary entries and the fictional sample are public. Individual birth submissions, preview results, account pages and personal reports are not included in the public sitemap or machine-readable content library.
Personal result and report endpoints still verify access permissions and use private, no-store responses. Crawler instructions do not replace those checks. Details about processing, retention and access or deletion requests are described in the privacy policy.
